Problems?
Some problems arise because of individual browser settings. These settings can prevent some features of CliFlo from working correctly. Please try the following items before contacting the CliFlo Administrator. Note that you may also have specific security software installed that controls some of these actions or you may have different browsers or versions. Check your browser help, search the internet or talk to your IT section.
Unblock Popup Windows
This site uses popup windows for the login, help, station search and datatype windows. To work correctly, disable any popup window blocking software. This can be done within your internet preferences (options). Sometimes (especially in later versions of Interent Explorer) there is a toolbar item that controls the blocking and unblocking of popup windows.
- In later versions of Internet Explorer 6 there may be a toolbar item that controls the blocking and unblocking of popup windows.
- Firefox Windows: "Options / Privacy / Content" and ensure the "Block Popop Windows" is either disabled or is enabled but allowed for this site.
- Firefox Mac OS X: "Preferences / Content" and ensure the "Block Popop Windows" is either disabled or is enabled but allowed for this site.
- Safari "Mac OS X": Ensure the menu item "Safari / Block Popup Windows" (Cmd K) is disabled.
Enable Cookies
Cookies are necessary for CliFlo to operate and to login. If necessary look in your browser settings to allow cookies for this site (also CliFlo can be set up as a trusted site).
- For Internet Explorer 6 Go to "Internet Properties / Security" tab "Trusted Sites" click on the "Sites" button and add "http:/cliflo.niwa.co.nz" as a trusted site.
- Firefox Windows: "Options / Privacy / Cookies" and ensure the "Allow sites to set cookies" is enabled.
- Firefox Mac OS X: "Preferences / Privacy / Cookies" and ensure the "Allow sites to set cookies" is enabled.
- Safari "Mac OS X": Preferences / Security / Accept Cookies" and select "Only from sites you Navigate to".
Caches
The internet "caches" or temporary stores data in caches enable efficient data transfer. Sometimes these caches are not refreshed correctly and this results in the same old data being displayed in a window rather than new data being displayed.
If there are problems sometimes caches can be forced to update:
- In Internet Explorer hold down "Alt" and press the "Refresh" button on the toolbar.
Under: "Internet Properties" / "General" tab: In the section "Temporary Internet files" ensure that checking for newer versions of internet pages is "Automatic". If necessary click on the "Delete Files" and delete all internet files (this clears your local browser cache).
- Firefox 1.5+ Windows: "Options / Privacy / Cache" and click on the "Clear Cache Now" button.
- Firefox 1.5+ Mac OS X: "Preferences / Privacy / Cache" and click on the "Clear Cache Now" button.
- Safari Mac OS X: hold down the "Option" key and press the "Refresh" icon.
Quit Your Browser
Sometimes quitting your browser (including all windows that may be embedded within Excel) then logging in and trying again will fix problems.
Problem logging in?
After logging in instead of using the red "Please Refresh Database Query ..." link near the bottom of the login results window, go back to the CliFlo home page window and use the "Database Query Form" link. The "Database Query Form" should display your login name under the "Help Home Subscription Query" tabs near the top RHS of the window.
